Alexander Kozlov: EEF Is Another Opportunity to Discuss Cooperation between Russia and China

Alexander A. Kozlov, minister of the Russian Federation for the development of the Far East held a working meeting with Mr. Li Hui, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation.
One of the first issues of the meeting was the discussion of the events with the participation of the delegation of the People's Republic of China at the fourth Eastern Economic Forum.
“The Eastern Economic Forum is attracting increasing attention from the international community every year. Our partners from China have become its traditional participants. Last year, the Chinese delegation was one of the most numerous. We expect that this year a significant number of large private and state-owned Chinese companies will participate in the forum, because the EEF is another opportunity to discuss the cooperation of our countries in the Russian Far East, it is an opportunity of open dialogue between the authorities, entrepreneurs and the public,” said Alexander Kozlov.
The minister informed, that at the Eastern Economic Forum it is planned to hold business dialogues with five delegations, including the Russian-Chinese business dialog.
In his turn, Mr. Li Hui, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the PRC in the Russian Federation confirmed the preparation of the Chinese side for the forthcoming EEF. It should be noted that earlier the assistant to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov informed about the participation of the Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping in the forum.
Mr. Li Hui underlined that Russia and China have been cooperating for many years in the trading and economic spheres in the regions of Siberia and the Russian Far East, but there is still a great potential for further cooperation.
The trading turnover between the regions of the Russian Far East and the People's Republic of China is steadily increasing. In 2017, it reached a record 7.7 billion USD, and continues to grow. Thus, in the five months of 2018, it grew by 22 percent and amounted to 3.231 billion USD.
