Gorny Vozdukh ASEZ resident digging for thermal water on Sakhalin
During the construction of a balneological complex in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Honoka Sakhalin company is drilling one of the island’s deepest wells to produce thermal water. The project for construction and exploitation of the object aiming at family recreation is implemented according to the agreement with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East. The complex will have its first visitors in 2019.
By now, the well is 400 meters deep and is to be drilled 200 meters deeper with a newly assembled powerful oil rig.
“This is going to be Sakhalin’s deepest oil well since the Soviet time. Its thermal water will be distributed to two bathtubs in the complex. Other tubs and pools will be filled with water infused with herbs and other ingredients. The complex building is now finished and its roof is heated. Currently, the façade heating system and the boiler room are being installed, and the gas pipeline is being laid”, Honoka Sakhalin CEO Sergey Dmitriev said.
Honoka complex will feature different kinds of pools, massage and hair salons, recreational areas, restaurants and a Japanese garden. Kids will enjoy water slides and game rooms. Visitors will avail of the bathhouse complex with variously-heated pools, separate sauna areas, hot tubs and steam rooms, spa and massages.

One of Hokkaido’s best companies specializing in spa resorts has visited Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and intends to share their experience with the people of Sakhalin and show them how to enjoy bathing in hot springs. The project is sure to become a huge success, otherwise the Japanese business would not contribute to this”, Shinzō Abe noted.
