Chinese Tourists Will Be Able to Visit Kamchatka without a Visa

Visa-free entry to Kamchatka Krai will be soon organized for Chinese tourists. The Government of Kamchatka Krai and the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) signed the relevant agreement within the framework of the «Days of the Russian Far East» in Moscow. The governor of the Kamchatka region Vladimir Ilyuhin and the head of Rosturism Oleg Safonov signed the document. “Of course, we hope to further strengthening of the relationship with Rostourism. We see a serious growth of indicators in the tourism industry: this leads to an increase in the volume of investments in infrastructure, and to growing numbers of foreign tourists. Without the help of the federal agency, we simply cannot cope with many tasks. The agreement signed today will certainly help the development of tourism in Kamchatka” - emphasized Mr.Vladimir Ilyukhin.
The Federal Agency for Tourism intends to provide comprehensive support to the Kamchatka Krai for the promotion of tourist products in the region both on the domestic and international markets, including using the network of national tourist offices “Visit Russia” abroad established in 29 countries under the auspices of Rosturism.
"Tourist-recreational resources of Kamchatka attract the interest of Chinese tourists. According to the research conducted by Ernst & Young in September 2017, the attractions of the region are among the most popular visiting places for Chinese tourists in the Russian Far East. "The Volcanoes of Kamchatka Natural Park” would like to visit 41% of the surveyed travelers from China, and the Valley of Geysers - almost 20%. Creation of favorable conditions for tourist trips to Kamchatka by citizens of China within the framework of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental agreement on visa-free tourist exchange will become a serious stimulus for the development of inbound tourism in the region» - said the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Mr. Oleg Safonov.
The number of foreign tourists who visited Kamchatka Krai in 2018 grew twice as compared to last year. During the 10 months of 2018, 24.6 thousand foreigners visited the peninsula. Most of them arrived to Kamchatka aboard cruise liners. The inbound tourist stream to the region for the whole year of 2017 amounted to 13.9 thousand people.
